QPR vs. Leeds United Preview: Whites look to end poor run of form and break London curse

Leeds United look to improve on their poor recent run of form with a trip to the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium this Saturday, as they face Queens Park Rangers (QPR) in the lunchtime kick-off.

The Whites were defeated 2-0 by Garry Monk's Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road last Saturday, which was Leeds United's first defeat at home since the 31st August 2019 when they lost 1-0 to Swansea City. Last weekend's result added to Leeds' poor run of form, with Marcelo Bielsa's picking up just one win from their last seven games in all competitions (3L 3D).

However, despite Leeds' recent form they remain in the top two, but they now only sit six points above Brentford in third, who travel to Huddersfield Town this weekend, and one point behind Championship league leaders West Brom, who host Stoke City on Monday night.

Meanwhile, QPR go into this weekend's game having suffered a 3-1 defeat away at Brentford last Saturday, despite Mark Warbuton's side thrashing Swansea City 5-1 at home in the FA Cup third-round the week before and also hammering Cardiff City 6-1 at home in their league game leading up to it.

QPR are also going through a poor run of form of their own, picking up just one victory from their previous six league games (4L 1D). They currently sit in 15th place in the Championship table on 35 points, just seven points from the play-off places.

Mark Warbuton could hand new arrival Jack Clarke his debut, with the 19-year-old forward joining on-loan from Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur, who Spurs bought for £10million from Leeds United last summer.

Team news

Marcelo Bielsa revealed in this weeks press conference that Leeds are still without midfielder Adam Forshaw (hip) and forward Tyler Roberts (hamstring), with no indication on when the pair are likely to make a return. Bielsa also stated that left-back Barry Douglas will also miss Saturday's game due to an injury he picked up in last week's loss to Sheffield Wednesday.

Previous meetings

Leeds United ran out 2-0 winners when these sides met at Elland Road last November, with goals from Tyler Roberts and Jack Harrison sealed all three points for the Whites.

However, Leeds haven't won at QPR since December 2017 when a hat-trick from Kemar Roofe secured a 3-1 win, losing on both visits to what was known as Loftus Road last season.
