Leeds United vs Chelsea Preview: Whites in search of a much-needed win against in-form Blues

Leeds United welcome Chelsea to Elland Road on Saturday as they look for their first Premier League win over the Blues since December 2002.

The Whites failed to lift their London hoodoo last time out, losing 2-0 to West Ham United on Monday night.

Marcelo Bielsa's side got off to a good start in the game and would've felt hard done by when Tyler Roberts had a goal ruled out early on after Helder Costa was deemed to be millimeters offside in the build-up.

Leeds showed a good account of themselves and arguably did enough to get something from the game, but first-half goals from Jesse Lingard and Craig Dawson secured maximum points for the Hammers at the London Stadium.

That was Leeds United's second loss in a row and their 5th defeat in seven. Leeds remain in 11th place in the Premier League table on 35 points, however, they now see themselves just nine points above Fulham in 18th, who they face next Friday away at Craven Cottage.

Meanwhile, Chelsea beat Everton 2-0 at home on Monday evening to stretch their unbeaten run to 12 games in all competitions.

Chelsea have seemingly improved since the arrival of head coach Thomas Tuchel, who was appointed in January after Frank Lampard was sacked.

The Blues are undefeated in eleven games so far under the 47-year-old German, winning eight and drawing three, scoring 11 goals and conceding just two.

The Blues are currently 4th in the league on 50 points and look set to finish in the top four this season. A win over Leeds would be another big step closer to securing a Champions League spot for next season.

TEAM NEWS

Leeds United welcome back Jamie Shackleton following a muscular injury. Defender Robin Koch is set to feature to the Under-23s team on Monday following a long-term injury, while Rodrigo and Kalvin Phillips made it through the West Ham game unscathed.

The Whites, however, remain without defender Pascal Struijk and midfielders Pablo Hernadez and Adam Forshaw.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's top scorer Tammy Abraham is set to miss a fifth match because of an ankle injury. The striker has scored a total of 12 goals so far this season.

Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell and Olivier Giroud could return though, however, defender Thiago Silva remains out.
