Leeds United have announced the permanent signing of Manchester City forward Ian Poveda.
The 19-year-old put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year deal with the club, keeping him at Elland Road until the summer of 2024.
He becomes Leeds United's second signing of the 2020 January transfer window, after the arrival of highly rated 18-year-old Italian goalkeeper Elia Caprile earlier in the week.
Poveda has played for a number of clubs throughout his youth career, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona and Manchester City. He's won many honours at youth level for both club and country, impressing on the international stage having been capped at every youth level by England. Poveda's known to be a versatile forward, being able to play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder.
At City he featured regularly for their Academy side, and after a number of impressive appearances, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola awarded Poveda his first team debut in January 2019, where he featured in City's 1-0 win over League One side Burton Albion away at the Pirelli Stadium in the second-leg of their EFL Cup tie.
The forward joins Leeds after turning down a new contract to remain at the Etihad Stadium in the hope to find regular first team football. Poveda was a target for many clubs including such as as Italian side Torino and also Glasgow Celtic, but Leeds were able to secure his signature.
Ian Poveda will wear the number 7 shirt for the Whites.
