Nottingham Forest held Leeds United to a 1-1 draw in what was the first game at Elland Road of the 2019/20 season.
Pablo Hernandez put the Whites ahead early in the second half after he chested down Mateusz Klich's pass and smashed the ball past an oncoming Muric.
15 minutes from time though, Forest striker Lewis Grabbam managed to convert a scramble from a corner, canceling out Hernandez's goal.
A point apiece but Leeds will wonder how they didn't manage to pick up all three after a dominant display.
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa named an unchanged line-up from the United side that beat Bristol City 3-1 away at Ashton Gate last Sunday. Defender Gaetano Berardi made his return to the bench after completing his suspension, along with 19-year-old goalkeeper Illan Meslier who the Whites signed on a season-long loan from French Ligue 2 side FC Lorient on transfer deadline day.
The home side dictated the play throughout the first half but failed to convert any chances. Kalvin Phillips saw his low shot fly wide of the left post 8 minutes into the game, while Patrick Bamford missed a great opportunity after 25 minutes when he failed to convert from a tight angle after breaking beyond the Forest defence.
After a lacklustre first half, the two teams went into half-time goalless.
Seven minutes into the second half Bamford saw another one of his efforts rattle the crossbar after getting on the end of a Harrison cross from the left. Moments later Bamford was then handed another great opportunity when goalkeeper Muric rushed out, but his chip bounced wide of the far right post.
Elland Road erupted just five minutes later though when Leeds eventually took the lead. Pablo Hernandez was played through by midfielder Mateusz Klich, Hernandez chested down and slotted the ball in the back of the net past an oncoming Muric.
Nottingham Forest came close to an equaliser 20 minutes from time when Michael Dawson header just over the bar from a corner.
The visitors however did find themselves level on 78 minutes. Striker Lewis Grabban managed to tumble the ball over the line at the far post from a corner after a goalmouth scramble.
Leeds wasted many more opportunities to win the game and had numerous penalty shouts waved away by referee Robert Jones. Nottingham Forest managed to keep the score at 1-1 and take a point away from Elland Road, but Marcelo Bielsa's side will wonder how they didn't manage to collect all three.
