Leeds United kick-start their centenary year with a win after picking up a 3-1 victory against Bristol City away at Ashton Gate.
A long range curling shot from Pablo Hernandez opened the scoring int he first half, with Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison putting the Whites 3-0 up in the second half.
15 minutes from time Andreas Weimann managed to find his way into the Leeds box and score past Kiko Casilla to pull a goal back for the Robins.
But Leeds managed to hold on to their 3-1 lead and take all three points back to West Yorkshire.
Marcelo Bielsa was without defender Luke Ayling and forwards Kemar Roofe and Tyler Roberts through injury, so Leeds United's line-up saw Dallas start at right back with 21-year-old defender Ben White make his debut alongside captain Liam Cooper, while other new signing Helder Costa was placed on the bench.
It was a steady opening to the game with very little chances created. Striker Patrick Bamford had the best chance when Adam Forshaw played the ball over the top to him, but Bamford's volley on the turn rolled well wide.
The Whites found themselves a goal up though after 25 minutes. Forshaw laid the ball off to Pablo Hernandez who quickly turned onto his left foot and his curling effort flew from the edge of the box flew into the top left corner of the goal.
Leeds almost found themselves 2-0 up just before half-time. Winger Jack Harrison broke away on the left, found Hernandez who then laid the ball off to Forshaw but his first time curling shot went inches wide of the right hand post. After a fairly comfortable opening 45 minutes, Leeds United went into half-time 1-0 ahead.
10 minutes into the second half Leeds doubled their lead. Kalvin Phillips latched onto a loose ball to play it out wide to Hernandez on the right. Hernandez showed good skill to get past Callum O'Dowda and float the ball into Bamford who headed in what will feel like a much needed goal.
Bristol City came close on 68 minutes though when midfielder Josh Brownhill tried his luck from a free-kick 25 yards out, but his effort hit the side netting.
However, Leeds were all but out of sight when they made it 3-0 four minutes later. Stuart Dallas broke through down the right to tee up Mateusz Klich in the box. His shot was blocked, but Jack Harrison was there to turn in the rebound.
The Robins pulled a goal back 15 minutes from time though. Andreas Weimann picked up the ball on the right and managed to find his way into the box to poke the ball past Casilla in goal.
But Leeds United managed to see the game out to pick up a 3-1 victory, taking all three points away at Ashton Gate.
